Would you believe it - at long last a UK politician has had the b@lls to question the whole man-made global warming theory, describing it as an "hysterical pseudo-religion".

OK, so he's only the environment minister here in NI, so completely irrelevant really, but at least he's had the gumption to think for himself and question the prevailing orthodoxy.

Predictably he is aready being viciously attacked by all-comers as some sort of raving, baby-eating, fundamentalist loon.

John Woods of Friends of the Earth said Mr Wilson was "like a cigarette salesman denying that smoking causes cancer".

We all know smoking causes cancer. The MMGW camp claiming that it's the cellophane wrapper on the cigarettes that causes cancer and him saying it's not, it's the cigarettes, would be a more accurate analogy.

He isn't quite the first. Lawson was pretty scathing in his book, even calling the 'carbon trading' schemes the World's biggest scam.

But, hoorah for another! And may the wheels fall of "Friends of the Earths" camper van.

I've always thought that NI politicians (for all their faults) were hard headed, no nonsense types.
