Hoover's a legend. Flew P51 Mustangs in WW2, then became a test-pilot. Was backup project pilot on the X1 and flew chase for Yeager. The US FAA 'conspired' (allegedley) to pull his medical a while back, claiming him to be psychologically unfit so he just went and carried on airshow flying down-under instead.

There's a clip somewhere of him going crazy-ape bonkers in an F86 Sabre as well.

I think you'll find that was iced-tea, rather than coffee, he was pouring, but I'll let Eric confirm the precise brand.

The man was a legend long before I was born, and will still be one long after I'm gone.

Not clicked the link but if it's the one of engine-off aerobatics in an Aero Commander it's an amazing demonstration of energy management and balanced flying.

Apparently the yanks decided not to re-issue his flying licence so he just went to Australia where they said "yea sure"

But then they are nuts in Australia!!
