"The Campaign Against Political Correctness has suggested changes for the game of British Bulldog:
- Name is far too patriotic and aggressive, change to International Poodles
- Safe 'home' areas called on each side to be renamed. Home is not always safe for children
- No winners or losers - must be non-competitive
- Children to wear full protective body gear, including knee pads, helmet and gum shields
- Catching friends is too violent - instead players to shout "poodle" when they get within one foot (or the metric equivalent)"
I think the BBC have been succesfully trolled!

tennis ball bulldog equally as good!
Is that sort of like Danish Longball? .. Mind, we used to play Bulldog on concrete, I guess kids don't really think of the consequences.

Bulldog on a concrete playground was loads of fun.
Danish longball was a vicious sport that bloody hurt.
This game was banned at our Jr school too in the 70's, so the name was changed (no idea who made up the new name) to cat-spring.I'm not sure how simply changing the name allowed us to continue playing, but it worked.I was regularly one of the last remaining to be caught and even made it through a field of around 25 people once - those whizz kid trainers ruled! I then got tackled and smacked my head into one of the concrete fence posts at the side of the playground and almost cut off the bottom of my ear and that was when they banned cat-spring

When we played it you had to either lift the person off the ground, or grapple them down TO the ground! Kids these days are wimps!
Gravity Dog
Played at the Warina on roller skates, Bladers versus the world, ahh, happy neck back and shoulder destroying memories.
Also don't forget "Tiggy on the lines" as if someone was in your way, you simply went straight on through.
Dave!

We used to play on a concrete netball/basket ball layout. The end half circles were safe...
