Advice needed 3 mobile phones
Discussion
Im looking for some advice on what to do
Im currently tied into a 18 month contract with 3 mobile phones of which ive still got 12 months to run. The problem is the handset they supplied is faulty, its been sent back 3 times now and its still faulty!! The latest one is they have lost the handset.
Ive tried speaking to customer services but i dont speak hindu and to be honest a small piece of me dies everytime i try.
What im asking is can i get out of my contract? or am i screwed?
What are my options apart from cancelling my direct debit and taking legal advice?
What do you think?
Cheers

They are sending 'new phones' every time? or fixing them?
They are probably sending you reconditioned phones, kick up, write letters do whatever you have to, they should send you a brand new phone eventually
surely they are not honouring their part of the contract...

Go into the shop, make a scene, demand to see the Manager, tell them your not leaving till its sorted etc........
All this in a shop full of customers, they will sort you out quick enough.
And if they hit you with the "its customer service, nothing to do with the shops" crap, then remind them its all the same company so they CAN sort it out for you right there and then.
Speaking from experience it will work....
HTH!!

If you have got insurance, you are entitled to a brand new replacement under your contract. If you haven't and you are still within the first 12 months of your contract, then you are covered under the manufacturers warranty, this however entitles them to repair the phone within 28 days first before even considering a replacement. got you by the dogs ..........
I can help
I've been through this for the last two months because I had no reception at home due to a local network error. Those Indian call centres are completely useless, and will not do anything other than apologise for the fault but they cannot rectify it either.
In the end I got it resolved today, with 3 months free line rental and an upgrade to an N96 next month. I am also on an 18 month contract which sucks because with a 12 month contract you get a new phone every year. On 18 months, you have to wait 15 months before you get the upgrade
Those misguided pigeon English speaking wannabees will tell you what you want to hear at the end of the contract but will not necessarily tell you the truth. I asked for a written copy of the verbal contract I had agreed to at renewal and sure enough it has never been receeved despite countless promises from the dreaded call centre.
I will PM you the details of Kevin Russell and he or a member of his team will send you an email offering to recify the problem within 5 days. That is exactly what they did and the first time in a long time I am more than happy with the service they provided. Just bypass the chimpanzees and get onto the Executive office.

Many thanks Simon

No problem let us all know if you get a result.
Just maybe someone on the board will realize that these foreign call centers are a complete and utter waste of energy if the senior management offices end up dealing with the problems that the call centres should have dealt with.
N96 next month I hope

There is a chap in the Metro today who reportedly sued Carphone Warehouse in a landmark court case for refusing to replace a faulty handset.

"Adam Giles-Wilson was awarded £266 compo after an 18 month struggle and had offered to help fellow sufferers for free. The 35 year old won his David and Golliath battle after his Sony Ericsson K800i stated to cut out and failed to log received calls. It was sent twice for repair, only to return with the same faults. He asked for a replacement and was told it was out of stock. He asked for a refund but was advised to claim it off his house insurance. “I told them they were breaking the law. Someone in the store said “tough”,” said the student from Offwell Devon. The phone giant sent only a letter in its defence at Exeter County Court.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could send me the email contact for 3 as well. I'm stuck on a 18 month contract for the "mobile broadband", which is useless. Customer services keep telling me there is a temporary fault with 2 of the 3 transmitters in my area, but I've been told this about 3 different areas now!
If anyone is considering getting this thing, avoid like the plague. You get 3 days to return it and cancel the contract, but when I got mine at christmas it wasn't oversubscribed. Now typical download speeds are 40kbps, which is old dialup rather than broadband, and an itunes album takes about 6 hours to download!
TIA
