I have just checked the NSandI website as I do every month to see if I have won anything. I don't do too badly, averaged £100 pm this year so far.

I was wondering if anyone on PH has won big time, by that I mean £10k or more. I'm intruiged as to how they notify you of your winnings. I presume the million pound winners get a phone call / personal visit etc but at what point in the hierachy of prizes do they just let you find out on the website?

Any ideas?

Won £50 once... mind you holding at the time was two £1. Holding now £52 - nothing since.

For HR tax payer its a no brainer ave payout is what 4-4.5% tax free not many places give you that risk free. Also a nice place to put £30k each away for instant ready cash + its a bit of fun & you never know.

Martin Lewis did something about this a while ago and basically said that what your gambling is the interest you could earn. So in theory you could put the £30k into a bank account and then every penny of interest you earn with it buy Lottery tickets @£1 each. You should have £x return from that and who knows it could pay out very big.

3x£50, 1x100 and 1x500, I'm on target to outperform a decent savings account this year.

Yes, it is a no brainer. Put your money in a bank. Got £15k in there. Won £50 about 8 months ago. I am not sure of your definition of fun. I'm not exactly bouncing around the room.

Amusingly, there's a button on that site labelled "Invest now". Really, it should read "Risk now".

Not had a big win. £250 was my biggest, usually get a couple of £50's outperforms a bank as to return on investment every single month. Don't check mine online I wait for the envelopes.

My Missus got a cheque recently for £5000.00 and didn't seem that impressed!

Turned out it was the refund cheque, as she had cashed some in....
It's a good story that.

Years ago, £10K appeared in my bank account.

Turned out it was the proceeds from the sale of a flat I had sold....

Ha ha ha. Does anyone else have any humourous stories about receiving money that they were entitled to, and were expecting?

I put a bet on once and the team won. You will never guess what, the next day money in my bank account! I hadn't even sold anything! I forgot to tell everyone on PH's about it. It must have been the excitment at the time.

I don't know how you can wait for the cheques to arrive. I have no patience, I usually check on the 1st of each month even though the website isn't updated till about the 3rd!

Checked this morning at about 4.50am while waiting for baby 666's bottle to warm. Woo-hoo! £50 and £100. Almost made 4.50am tolerable.

I won £250 on my 17th birthday. Which was fantastic to me, well then.

Wish I hadn't cashed them all in to blow when I was 18.

Hey that's good, and I'm very happy for you.

You'll now be able to invest in some advanced driving tuition. I expect there'll be a section on how to deal with badly behaved HGV drivers. If you're feeling generous you might take supermono along with you. laugh

Best wishes all,
Dave.
