Hi All,

My grandfather has recently died and left these behind - we're trying to find out as much as possible about them. Anything from who they are awarded to, what for, any value and so on and so forth.

Can anyone shed any light on any of the following:

Just a simple RE - presumables Royal Engineers?

Its says UBIQUE underneath it - from what i can find out it appears to be a Royal Grenadeers epulet or similar?

ROYAL ARMY SERVICE CORPS

SHERWOOD FORESTERS and then at the bottom NOTTS AND DERBY - presume regimental badge?

Around the circle this one says

HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS - Again presume regimental badge?

Just says EGYPT and SWB

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Cheers

Dan

The ones I can identify for certain are the Sherwood Foresters and the Royal medical corps badges, both of which are regimental badges.

The Sherwood Foresters are a light armoured regiment and the Royal medical corps - well i'm sure you've figured that one out for yourself!

those are mostly Cap badges, designed to go on the front of berets

The one with 'Egypt'is the cap badge of the South Wales Borderers, they took part in the battle of Rorke's Drift.

Thanks all so far.

If they are regimental badges I assume they are given to anyone who serves in that regiment? - the same for beret / cap badges?

Anyone aware of any decent forums that may be able to provide any further help with any of them?

Cheers again

Dan
