Blue Lagoon - can stop off on way from airport to your hotel - cabs are fine waiting a few hours for you keeping luggage with them.
Was on a stag do so didn't really stray out of the town centre. Glacier visit / snowmobile looked fun, although is a couple of hours journey away.
And yes it is £8 a pint. Infact absolutely everything there is ridiculously expensive.

I could see it being a very good place to go on a night out, but prefer to leave with a lighter wallet/heavier credit card bill. If you are staying for a while it is worth getting a bit further out and going glacier-ing and snowmobile riding, when I went out there it was ridiculously good fun. We went to the top of an active volcano that had a ice/snow 'plug' in its' crater and had a snowball fight. Quality
in the blue lagoon, resist the temptation to pull up some of the mud from the bottom
it's best not knowing that it's full of pubes
btw, if it's a lads' drinking holiday type thing, you can get duty free on arrival at Keflavik, and if you go to the downstairs 'departures' duty free shop, you can get slabs of beer duty free

Blue Lagoon seems like one of the best things to do, like the snowmobile ideas too! If i can afford it right enough...
As suggested earlier the Blue Lagoon is next to the power station, it got relocated from its original spot so isn't 'natural' anymore. Must admit I missed it because I hear conflicting things about it but don't you always ?!Snowmobile trip is brilliant fun, did it for half a day or so. 'Mountain Taxis' (if they are still around) did a brilliant trip which lasted a day. Get escorted around to different sites in a big 4x4 with guys that really know there stuff. I did go in winter mind so might be a bit different.

Folks,
Off to Reykjavic soon for a short break (and to see Scotland play!). Any 'must-see' places, or things to do?
Oh and how expensive is it, really? I've heard rumours of £8 a pint...
Cheers
I read that twice and was still wondering why Iceland would have a production of Macbeth that would be worth the trip.Off to Reykjavic soon for a short break (and to see Scotland play!). Any 'must-see' places, or things to do?

I hear there is a bar in the centre of Reykjavic called Benny's or Bernie's or something like that, run by a Scot that has booze at £2.50 or so per pint. Sorry I can't be more specific.
Looks like an awesome place though...I've wanted to go for a long while and I'm planning on riding round it next year if I can scrape together the Króna.
Reykjavik municipal swimming pool. On as cold a night as possible.
Seriously.
It'll cost you very little to get in (relative to other prices), and it's a normal, boring (although warm) swimming pool.
With a sign pointing to a door saying "Hot tubs".
This door takes you outside, onto the roof. (In nothing more than your swimmers, with the air temperature of -7 in our case.) And there are two fantastic hot tubs there. One is HOT. The other is VERY VERY HOT.
Sitting in there, with your hair frozen solid, with your nose just above the surface of the water, is an experience you need to try.
Oli.

Having just came back from a tour of Iceland two weeks ago I can confirm - the street that photo was taken from was all dug up and the church was covered in scaffolding.. Expect the same in the next couple of months.I'm sure you'll be able to take a tour to Geysir - a geysir, Gulfoss a waterfall (impressive) and Hraundossar/Barnafoss (another waterfall) but strange the way it comes out of the ground rather than over..
If found the prices reasonable - alcohol, yes expensive. Minky Whale steak is expensive but lovely. Take some jerry cans if you can - fuel is cheaper there than here
