These scratchcards that fall out of newspapers and magazines, or pop through your letterbox. Yes, they're scams - calls to claim are £1.50 a minute for a minimum of 6 minutes, or if you text it's the same cost and they sign you up to a £6 a week subscription that will be nigh on impossible to cancel.

So... granted that we all know this, has anyone successfully claimed a prize and what was it?

I have never heard of anyone winning these TVs and holidays but surely they must HAVE to show someone receives the prize to be legal. Most likely their Aunt Brenda but still...

Yup. When i was young my mum let me phone up to claim one (god i was spoilt)

I won.......

a photo frame, a cap gun, a whoopee cushion and some other junk. I belive the prize had to be equal to the cost of the phone call.

Needless to say i've never phoned another one......

Scratchcards and lottery tickets should be renamed to something a little more descriptive of what they actually are. I propose "Prole Tax".

Yes, but it turns out the calculator I won was worth much less than the phone call to claim rolleyes

Better off buying a lucky bag IMO

My dad got sent a real emerald when he phoned up one (on the work phone though) - shame it was uncut.

I won €3 in a scratch card give-away at the airport last week.

Took away another €3 from my duty-free shopping, thank you! smile

Don't know if the Saturday Daily Mail still give their own scratch cards away ot not?

But, my aunt once won £10,000.00 on one of these probably 10+ years ago, think it was the ones where you had to check the numbers in each Daily Mail paper for a week. The only good thing to be ever found in the Daily Mail I suspect. Still, she was a very happy Daily Mail reader after that.
