Was just wondering if when you join these do they ensure you win a couple of times in your first few visits, then start making you loose? Or would that be illegal?

Just seems when I threw £50 at William Hill on their roullette table I won a few times then lost. Happened with something else that I forgot. Just a coincidence or is there really a conspiracy?!

To true.

I was taken into a casino once (I've had a sheltered life) and was ready to gamble. The free coffee and sandwiches put me off. You just need to look at a casino to know that the odds are stacked in their favour. IMo casinos are a business that are meant to generate profit. There is no profit in loosing to the 'client'.

Possibly follow same rules as fruit machines and betting shop roulette. %age payout of all money taken, 70% IIRC, so if for example £1,000,000 is staked £700,000 has to be paid out by law. That could be in some big prizes or 1000's of small ones.
