I put a small bet on the World Superbike race at Brands last Sunday. The bet was placed late Friday afternoon online, accepted by them with a betting slip & e mail confirmation etc.

Odds were 30:1 and (as far as I'm concerned I picked the winner) it seems that these Sh***ters wouldn't pay up !
First it showed as cancelled & stake returned to my account so I queried it& they told me it went on as a "Late bet" as event had "already started" & outcome therefore known. I told them utter rubbish & why would they produce a bet slip & quote odds for an event that had started. Next e mail from them then says there had been an "input error" & quoted their Terms & Conditions showing they are not responsible if input errors occurred on web site.
SO they seem to be still resisting.. Trouble is they're based in Gibraltar so not exactly easy to pop in & rattle their cage is it?? -and regulatory body is unknown..
Anybody ever used them & how did it go? This is my first time, as I'm not really a betting chap but was just certain Kiyonari would win-(and he did thumbup for him)

I do a lot of gambling and I've never heard of this outfit, which is a bad sign. So I did a bit of research.

First of all they only have a C+ rating on Sports Book Review, which is not good. I'd never use any company without an A+ rating.

Secondly they are not a member of IBAS which is the independent (yeah, right!) dispute resolution service that just about all bookies are members of. This isn't a great sign, but in practise IBAS hardly ever find in favour of the punter anyway, probably because they're funded by the bookies. Conflict of interest anyone?

Thirdly, as you say, they are based in Gibraltar and as such are not regulated by the new(ish) UK Gambling Commission. They are, however, regulated in Gibraltar. Contact details for the Gibraltar Gambling Commission can be found HERE

Further research on Sports Book Review shows a bit of history on this mob not paying out. Your next step would probably be to tell them that you disagree with their ruling and ask who their independent 3rd party is who you can escalate your complaint to. Then take it up with the Gibraltar mob in the link above.

I'm happy to help with this offline if you like, just mail me through my profile.

As Mousey says, your best bet(!) if they don't play ball is to contact the GGC. If, as you say, you've got a email confirmation of your bet then it should stand and they will comply with the GGC.

Bwin are one of the biggest European operators (albeit fairly unknown in the UK), based in Austria but regulated in Gib for tax reasons. They're shirt sponsors of AC Milan and Real Madrid as well as 'official betting partners' of the MotoGP funnily enough, so fairly respectable as far as gaming companies go.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. The problem is that in their t&c's it says they have the right to cancel any bets in the event of any input error. Seems like they'll be able to get away with it just from this?

It depends what they mean by input error. The rule that bookies use most often to avoid paying out bets is that of 'palpable error'. They use this when they put the wrong price on the website, but they are supposed to only use it when the odds are way off what they should be.

For example, if they put Manchester United at 50-1 then this would be a palpable and your bet would be voided. If they put them at 3-1 then they'd be hard pushed to argue that this was a palpable error.

I suspect the 'input error' is just another term for palpable error. The question is, were the odds in both of your bets obviously wrong?

30/1 on the guy 10th in the championship, so no. I'd bet on the same guy btw.

The input error they claimed was that they'd put the race as being on Friday morning, so when we bet on Friday afternoon it was classed a late bet. At least I think that's what they said, it was badly worded:

"We can confirm that no winnings will be credited to your account in regards to the bets placed on the GP of Brands Hatch. This is due to an input error regarding the cut of date of this fixture. As this is technically also a late bet as all bets placed after the 10:40 on the 01.08.2008 were incorrect, this is the information you were informed initially."

That is very poor, if it was an English bookie they'd have no chance getting out of paying that. I'd contact the GGC straight away.

Good luck.

Thanks all. Been a while looking into things.
I have contacted Gibraltar Finance Ministry- Gaming Division by e mail, had a reply asking for more details of bet & replied to that.
Also sent other mail to management@bwin.com & just had reply stating same as before-"classed as late bet as anything after 10.40 on Friday was late". They also state the matter is now closed as far as they see it.

Might think again if they get a query from GCC !!

Bradders-I'd be inclined to contact the Gibraltar Gaming Division if you also got the same cr&p...

Now then that's interesting...Have you accepted "an offer"?
I just had an e mail from them offering me 7/1 odds "as a marketing bonus" ?? on my stake if I accept !
I don't know if it's anything to do with my e mails to Gib Gaming Division as Bwin HAD said "Matter closed" on earlier replies.

I've copied in GG Div on their offer- it's a damn sight less than 30/1 after all as that would have given me £150 !- so I'm delaying acceptance as I think their letter implies they know they're wrong.

Will post anything further

Weird that they made us different offers. I had no choice to accept as they've added the money to my account already.

Guys, excuse my ignorance on the subject but were your bets for Kiyonari to win race 1?

If so, the general odds were around 20-1 to 25-1 so don't accept 7-1, or free bets unless the free bets are for at least as much as you would have won.

Thanks Mousey. My bet was on Kiyo at 30-1 odds to win. So I've no intention of accepting 7's.
I copied in Bwin's e mailed offer to GCD & they are still "discussing internally" so I suspect something might? come of it yet.

I've just been onto my account and found the rest of the winnings in there! Unfortunately I've already used the other £57 in a bet (looks like I'll win it though so that's ok) but it looks like the GCC ordered them to pay out in full! Result! Thanks again for the help, how's it going for you Sprinter?

I had a bad experience with them. Put a bet on at the beginning of the year for Bradley Smith to win the 125 championship. Anyway, put £100 into the account but they would only let me bet about £40 as it was my first bet. Anyway, they then would not let me withdraw the remainder of the money. I was only able to withdraw winnings. I complained but didn't get anywhere as it is written in the small print. I would never use them again. And Bradley Smith isn't going to win frown
