Tips !?

I suggest you google Cholestrol and understand what, why, where and how.

That will help you understand it and to do something about it.

Baked beans, Porridge are 2 excellent meals to reduce it.

Eat lots of fish

Exercise.

What is your BMI? Remembering that optimum BMI is 22, Over 25 is Ove5rweight and over 30 is obease over 40 is morbidly obease.

Eat lots of fruit, salads.

Oh Drink is pretty bad... you could try cutting that out for 1 month and have the test again.

Mind you given its that high (no age given... if your under 30 thats dire) upir GP will tell you exactly what to do.

One other serious thing to consider - is your job a sit down office job? If so thats a really bad thing.
My old man never had any Cholesteral issues until he changed from being a mechanic to the Office Mgr... change of lifestyle.

Oh one last thing stress is another really big cause.

Googling cholesterol might help!

Pistonheads, Pedantry matters!

And yes, mine was about 7.6 but is now around 4.5 with Atorvastatin. I'm fit, not overweight and exercise regularly - hereditory cholesterol!

Well Im 6'2" and at the start of the year I was pushing 18stone++ now got this down to 16stone4. (*looking at the NHS health weight tables I should be 12 stone 5... Cannot really ever see me getting that low.

Cutting out/cutting down on the drink has a big impact and walking into the shops rather than drive.

Oh I also bought a 2nd hand quality rowing machine at the start of the year and spend around 10 mins a day on it really gets the sweat & heart beat up well worth it. Cost me £50 new it was £400!!! And it was only a month or two old smile

Oh one other tip - when I told the Mrs about my high BMI (well she must have realised) and my high cholestoral I said I want a lot more sex to up the exercise - she agreed, now 10+ times a week up from the 3 previously.

OK so your BMI isnt too bad - but then you could be very unfit.

I recall a Jamie Oliver show where they had two men on treadmills going up a steep climb. The morbidly obease guy (buy a labourer) was miles fitter than the bang on BMI bloke. Which was stated was similarly as bad as high BMI.

You ever tried burpees? Thats the most aerobic/dynamic exercise you can do & no equipment needed only a patch of ground.

That doesn't sound right unless you are built like a stick insect, my mate is 6ft 3 or 4 and weighs more than that and he is thin as a rake.

It may be some comfort to hear that the first long-term survey conducted found that subjects with low cholesterol suffered from the same mortality rates as those with high levels. So far as could be determined the human body reacts to low levels of cholesterol by increasing aggression to fight for a place at the table in (a falsely assumed) time of famine. The result was increased deaths through stress-related disease such as cancers, car crashes and physical violence. Those with high cholesterol had similar life spans and usually died of cardiovascular problems. The subjects with medium levels had the longest life spans.

I was 7.7 two months ago, recently tested at 5, the answer is Reiki, large and regular amounts of exercise, oh and going from 15.10 to 11.11 (stone that is) at 5 foot 10 it has made a big difference.

Eat food that is high in monounsaturates and low in saturated fat.

I've been nibbling mostly on plain unbaked hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans and almonds. Just dont eat too many as they contain a lot of calories. You can find them in the baking ingredients aisle.

Dont eat brazil nuts.

You need to be on Statins NOW. bks to diet, if it's that bad you need medication. Being on the best diet possible can only reduce your colesteral by 10% which is bloody useless to you if yours is 9.6. It needs to be lower than 5 or better still 4.

I am thin, fit, don't smoke don't drink, and nearly died of a massive heart attack in Oct 2006 and my colesterol was 7.9 and I had slight hypertension.
