What an astounding actor Daniel Day Lewis is

Fine film work indeed.

A rare gem.

Not a bad year for great films

I read a review for this, it said: 'Man searches for oil, man finds oil, the end'.hehe

Just about summed it up perfectly, very dull film.

Bit like

Cop chases rubber doll, then chases rubber man, and shots them, the end

Wop's sell crack, wop's end up in prison, the end

Acid blood creature kills people in space, creature killed by bird , etc

He's a cracking actor, true.

But not a right lot happened for several hours, very dull indeed.

Not seen this film yet but would like to.

Loved him in Last of the Mohicans and the film (sorry cant remember the name of it) he was in with that Leonardo Di Caprio was good as well.

edit to say the other film was Gangs of New York

Hugley.

Seems often to be the way with oscar winning films for some reason..It really did wear on.

Also 'No county for old men' TERRIBLE film wtf was all the hype about?

I then go wild and watch something I have not heard about before and come out amazed at how good it was' into the wild' Excellent.

Better than starting a new one?

I thought more people would have a chance to have seen it by now and make it a better thread.

Have to disagree - I thought 'No country...' to be the better film.

Got bored with 'There will be blood' and gave up after a while.

Edited for an errant word.

Rarely do I stop watching a film before it has ended, but There Will Be Blood was one of those.

Somebody said it above; not a lot happened in a very long time.

These types of film just seem to be so "worthy" and every scene has to be acted to death.
Sure, it's well made and well acted, but it's draining to watch when every actor in every scene is gunning for an oscar...

Thirded biggrin
I liked watching the relationship between father and son unfolding throughout the movie.

Superb way to put it, very accurate indeed.

I (half) watched it with my girlfriend at when we decided to stop it because we were, quite literally, bored she said "it won oscars". "Ah", said I, "...that explains it".

That's the problem I think - The film (There will be blood) didn't win the Oscar - the actor did.
