Can't really force Google to not show that part of their mapping possibly? It doesn't really show anything other than an airfield type setup though does it? I was impressed with the mess they made of the surrounding land, they must have gone mental testing bombs out there at some point, reminds me of the Bill Hicks "Whats G12 do Tommy?" gag... lol

I checked for area 51 not long ago on google earth and the area was forcibly blacked out, but on finding some old ariel shots online, yeah, it just looks like an airport; and I don't want to get all tinfoil hat, but if they tried to block the google imaging, what's to stop them showing you only what they want you to see?

Did anyone see the piece on the news last night about the street photos they are doing? I know one PHer saw one of the camera cars in london recently. There was lots of talk about people getting upset in case they were caught on camera doing something they shouldn't - muppets. It looks like a hell of a project.
It is just an airport. Its Nellis I think and Area 51 is a part of it,the part which the locals have always described as being a bit of desert with some hangars on it. So wouldn't be much to see from a sat photo anyway.
Oh and they can ask for Google to black out things. Appparently the Vice presidents house isn't on it, even though as a matter of public record everyone knows where it is. Cheney, not paranoid at all.

Nellis is the base within Las Vegas, in the "top right" of the Vegas conurbation on google earth, and has masses of black helicopters and all sorts of military planes etc. Area 51 (aka Groom Lake) is a bit further north in Nevada, in the middle of nowhereOh and they can ask for Google to black out things.
