Any ideas:

I need to fence off a car port 12 feet deep and about 30 feet wide....
(like 3 car spaces nose-to-wall of a building - door opens onto middle space)

Problem is it needs to be 'openable' so it can still be used as 3 parking spaces, but also 'closable' so a doggie can roam inside and out during the day.
So, the fence needs to be strong and about 7 feet high, but I want to be able to leave one of the spaces full of car at various times - and still let doggie have a wander zone.

I thought about those roller shutters like you get on Camera shops etc...
-but I cant find any at a good price.
I thought about 3 normal gates, but they would open out too far into the yard...
Also, I need to make sure big doggie cant get out...

Help...

I just read this back and even I don't understand...........

How about if you fix a wire running along the length of the rear wall, or perhaps the ceiling, and attach the dog's chain to the wire so it can slide along the wire?

Could you hinge two gates together to form a folding gate that reaches about half way? That way you can fold the gate *inwards* to let the cars in (if you see what I mean). If this seems feasible, then you could decide whether you want to do the same on the other side, or put a plain old gate behind that car that is there full time and have the folding gate cover the other two bays. You'd need to figure out whether this would be usable in practice, and I suppose this comes down to the weight of the gates, strength of the pillars and how good the ground is etc.

The only other approach I can see is to get a length of chain link fence and just roll it back to get access, but I reckon that would be a pita.

Dig a channel, the length of which is the same as the height the gate needs to be.

The depth of the channel is about the thickness of the gate.

Make the gate hinge from the bottom, so that when open the cars drive over it.

Would an electronic pet fence be practicable? --> www.hitecpet.com/consys.html American web-site but gives an idea of what is possible.
