Sea level rising - oh well, never mind
Discussion
Apparently sea levels are set to rise by about one foot by the end of this century, and they rose about half that amount in the last century. Call me a politically incorrect, short-sighted, anti-environmentalist, but my attitude is "so what". Even the scientists are saying "we'll have to learn to adapt". I'm sure that there are far more pressing problems to deal with in the world.

Well I have no plans to have any children and the sea levels will probably not affect me in my life time so what do I have to worry about.
Well I've got four kids, and I expect they'll have kids, and I'm still not bothered. I mean, in the last century was the six inch rise in sea level a problem? Personally, a couple of world wars, the cold war, disease and starvation, fundamentalist terrorism - these were bigger problems than the rise in sea level. As such, I'll be amazed if the same isn't true at the end of this century.

All depends if you live in a low-lying area or not.
Like, for example, London. (I was going to say Norfolk, but that really doesn't have the same emotional impact...)

In 1841, a sea level mark was made on a rock in Tasmania.
In 2004, sea level was at the same mark.
Funny, that.....
Tide in, or out...........

[tweety voice]Out tide of course, you really would have a problem if you could measure sea level in tide your house[/tweety voice]

So what if C02 is the major cause, it's not like WE create it all.
And after all that, oooo, a whole foot?
Bloomin heck, thats gonna cause some big problems for our advanced civilisation...
In 100 years global warming will be a fad, realised to be natural, we'll have alleviated our effects on it to such a degree we find better things to scare the public about, like "the war on terror 2" and asteroids from space.

I'm pretty sure that somewhere like London may have the wherewithall to build a 1 ft high wall over the course of the next 94 years, if necessary.
Sea level rises and tidal variations are not necessarily proportional. A 1 foot rise in sea levels may mean a tidal variation of much more than that.
