I made it all weekend without drinking!

That's a grand total of two whole weeks thus far, it wasn't easy but I bloody did it!
It is bit of a catch 22 situation though, on the one hand I feel great because I've not had a drink and saved a fair amount of money, but on the other hand I feel as though I have wasted a bit of my social life by not going out.

At the moment though I guess that I do feel better in myself for not drinking, although I can't wait until I get back on the devil juice in a few weeks time!

(That's if I last that long)!

I didn't. I spent almost 50% of the weekend drunk. So well done you.

Totally different for me, I spent 50% of the weekend sober.

I managed to go 7 weeks last year without drinking beer.

Unfortunately, I was drinking wine by the bucketful!

Lucky swine! I ignored the Government's advice on binge drinking to my detriment. Didn't make it out of bed until 1 on saturday, stumbled around for a while then did it all again, only bigger. I didn't even set foot outside yesterday

So much for my plans to finish all the DIY at the weekend. Ah well

Ah, the 'Once the can is open, you might as well finish it' philosophy! Very wise.

It goes flat otherwise, and that would be a waste

Why should you not go out simply because you are not drinking? I still go out and manage to avoid alcohol (mid week) and quite a few of my friends don't drink alcohol and they still have a good social life.

It's been dammned hard not to open that can though! Or bottle for that matter. Or anything else that may contain alcohol.......

I see what you are saying Emma but I don't think that I would have as good a time if I wasn't drinking so I may as well stay at home. The kind of nights out that I generally have tend to involve and revolve around drinking, sad as it may sound but that's the way it is!

Me too...Not that i go out much anymore, when i do go out, i like to get well lubricated.

After all, who wants to go out and be surrounded by drinkers while remaining sober? I really don't see the enjoyment in being the odd one out especially when it innevitably means i will be designated driver for a bunch of pissheads.

You lie ! I've tried not drinking and all I do all night is sit wishing i was drinking. Its not healthy to be in a pub and not drink....... it'd be like going to a brothel for a few hands of whist!

Well done! I'm a week and a half in, myself - not finding it difficult yet, but next weekend involves another family event which will be difficult to get through...
