want to change my current bank account,
But currently wages go into this one, mortgage comes out, and a host of other direct debits,

IS there any easy way of getting all this moved across from one account with one bank to another?

Do any banks assist with this or is it all left in your own hands to make a mistake on

Depends who your'e changing too.

Most of the high street banks offer a moving service, especially on their premier accounts.

Some banks will assist you in changing all this over now, not sure who though (heard it on the radio last night) Can't say I've tried it myself though.

First Direct did all the changing for me - only problem was with the Council (community charge) and O2. Even after I rang them to change the details they still failed to update their records. It got to the point that I simply stated that if they didn't want to take my money then I was quite happy to keep it (O2 wanted me to send a cheque as they couldn't set up a one of debit from my account)
Funnily enough they sorted it soon after.

From recent experience, all will assist with moving direct debits, standing orders etc.
