Does anyone have any ideas as to what i should do about this:
On the 6th of january i called a fairly well known tyre fitting company to order some tyres for my car, now these tyres are notoriously difficult to get hold of (175/60/r15/v goodyear eagles nct5) and upon calling them i was delighted to discover they had "plenty" in stock and they would be able to come out the next day to fit them, so i duly handed over my debit card details and paid.
Approximately 20 minutes later i got a call saying they didn't have any in stock and did i want to fit another brand, not being one for tyre mixing i politely declined and was informed that he wouldn't process my refund until 4, "in case i changed my mind", but he assured me it would be back in my account by monday, on tuesday the money was debited from my account, is still have not been refunded the money this is after an average of 2 phone calls a day, mostly unanswered,
The other problem is i went and got some tyres fitted somewhere else on the monday and then when they took the money as well it has caused me to become overdrawn and now i have been charged £25 for the privilege, is it reasonable to ask for this money back as well?

Have 'em!
In much the same way I advised my contract agency yesterday that I would be holding them liable for any and all charges and interest incurred due to their failure to pay me yesterday as per the terms of our contract.
Is it my imagination or does the world seem to be full of gits that just want to screw you over nowadays?

Amazing how when companies take payment it leaves your account instantly, but when a refund is due it takes ages to be "processed".
Perhaps a stern letter to their head office is in order?
I shall be doing that, but i already have the "direct line" to the MD so i think i may just do it for legal reasons, because right now am i correct in thinking they have obtained money by deception?
Yep - a stern letter and then Trading Standards, followed by the small claims court if it comes to it. Act quickly for maximum effect (I had planned to take a certain tuning company to the small claims court until I found out it was so long ago I probably wouldn't stand a chance).
I contacted Trading Standards once after a certain mobile phone supplier tried to screw me over and within a 24 hours they were on the phone to me grovelling offering me all sorts of offers for cut down prices.

Of course you should get all your money back but I can't understand how you had to pay for them before they were fitted anyway? I support my local independent fitter and he supports me by never asking for any cash till the job is done to my satisfaction. Sometimes I end up paying a few quid more for a personal, quality service but I don't mind. I'm funny that way.
it was a mobile tyre fitters that may or may not be found at www.tyresdirect2u.com, they required you to pay before they came out, now yes i realise it was a stupid idea but i guess we all live and learn
Best capture all the details in a letter - who said what and when, and send one copy to the head office and let them know that a copy of the letter will be sent to the local trading standards office and one to your lawyer. Did you get the name of the guy who took your order on the phone and promised the refund? Put in as many details as possible and state clearly what you expect - in this case a full refund for your tyres plus £25 costs for the bank charges incurred - and give a reasonable time limit on when this should happen... For instance - the money should be in my account within the next 7-10 working days. I had similar problems with a 996 Carrera 4 which plagued me with problems for 3 months and I ended up getting a FULL refund on the purchase price.... Good Luck - hope you get your cash back quickly!
