Went out to the car this afternoon and lying on the windscreen in an immobile state was a bee.
Obviously too cold for him to be out and so he was on his last legs, what with no flowers about etc.
Picked him up and took him in the house, laid him on a piece of paper (no i didnt splat him!) and went and got a teaspoon and disolved some sugar in warm water on it.
After a little coaxing, this seemingly almost dead little creature started to take the sugar water from the spoon, i kid you not.
after approx 5 mins he was testing out his wings and deffoo wanted to make tracks.
So i picked him up in a glass with the paper on the top and took him outside and released him.
He did 3 circuits about 20 feet up then took off like a rocket towards the conifers over the fields.
Ive done this before on one that was lying hammered on the path and the same thing happened.
Aint nature wonderful?
Here is THE little fella!
See his ikkle tongue?
Awwwwwwww cute or what?

I like bees My father was a beekeeper and had hives all over the place. I still recall him spinning the honey off and placing into a jar. Oh, and if anyone has some honey mead.....

Aw bless, I always catch bees and let them out in the summer. I like the big bumble bee, think they're great.

I always rescue them like this. I rescue drowned spiders to. It never fails to amaze me how a washed out wolf spider can come back from the dead and wander off!

I don't suppose you have any tactical data on exactly
*how* drowned they have to be before they cease to
respond to revival techniques? Also, the Lethal
Dose in 50% of wolf spiders for

a) 30 millilitres of aerosol Raid per square metre.

b) 30 seconds sustained battering with the
heel of a Loake 641T brogue, size 8, wide fitting.

Just planning the Spring offensive, you understand....

But if it had been summertime and there were loads of them, you'd have just splatted it like any other.....

either that or, you'll release it, it'll fly to my house and I'll splat it....

My motto has always been that God could be a spider, who knows. If he is, you won't last long with an attitude like that.

Now I'm confused....you mean

(a) you hope a lady will give you a hand.....

or....

(b) some silly sod is going to find you knackered and stuff a spoonful of sweet water dans votre gob....?

No, but...frivolity aside.......you really ought to get your brain in gear before embarking on such rescue missions.

Bit of a risky business.....consider this

Prescott might have snuffed it and come back as a bee......
