From BBC News website:

"Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has apologised after admitting council tax bills for one of his official homes were paid with taxpayers' money.

A total of £3,830.52 in public money was used since 1997 to pay tax for the flat at Admiralty House, London."

Please don't blame me, I didn't vote for them.

But did you vote for the party that had what - was it 2 or 3 peers in prison at various times?

£547 per year? What's going on? I thought council tax bills were closer to £1k?

Westminster council have one of the lowest CT rates in the UK, thanks to the mugging of motorists. I seem to remember last years take on parking fines being £36 million profit.

The figure does seem rather low, dosen't it?
It's actually because of:
- second home reduction
- very low comparable council tax rates in Westminster
- council tax was much lower back in the late '90's, skewing the figures somewhat.

So is he sorry he didn't pay it or sorry he got caught?

"I swear Tony I would never have done it if I knew they'd find out."

Why the should that fat piece of crap get a discount on his council tax?????

Whats he done to earn it???

Dammit theyve got no shame, theyre all bloody theives and liars.
If he had actually earned a discount then nobody would say a thing, but he just gets awarded it????? Maybe its to help offset the cost of his food and drink...........

Suggestion for Prescott! Come in Prescott! GO ON A DIET YOU FAT PIG!!!!!!!!!

On the news this morning it said Prescott has a penthouse for which he has avoided paying council tax on for eight years?! He must have known about it because Theresa May says the Tories have been hassling him over the matter.
The £4000 bill has been paid now, apparently by the taxpayer, this item paralleled the plight of the OAP who was jailed in a high security prison for 28 days for not paying over the cost of living rise in tax on his council tax (£60) Should the odious slug be banged up too? after all he is the head of the department when it comes to council tax.

Can anyone explain the logic behind having reduced Council tax on your second home?
The bin men don't know when you in or out so still have to drive around. the roads still need to be fixed and and ethnic dance teacher still needs to be hired.

Oh and why isnt that fat up before a judge isnt what he did embezlement?

Isn’t it 2 Jags that had a problem with houses a few years ago?

IIRC it was something to do with a house which had been ‘loaned’ to him by a Trade Union which he wasn’t wanting to let them have back when he fell out of favour with him. Or was that Gordy?

Who knows, tbh the way British politics is at the moment it’s a question of who is the lesser of two evils.

Lets face it a vote for the Liberal Party might as well be for the Yogic Bouncers for all the hope they have of getting to Number 10 in the next 20 years

Almost all MPs have second homes. (maybe I'm just cynical)
