They are discussing cars now:

www.cyclingplus.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=86318

One of them has posted (I kid you not)

"Astons are becoming ten a penny, they are churning out thousands a year now

you need to get something like a Bristol, or a Maserati or something, or, best of all, a Morgan"

WTF?

There's a few odd balls on Cycling Plus. If you read the whole thread though you will see they do not go unchallenged.

Should we feel sorry for the inadequates who buy X5s but can't afford the number plate to go with it...or should they be the object of our derision? Is it better to buy an X3 with appropriate number plate of by an X5 without?

Would the owners of Porsche Cayennes actually prefer their wagons to be sctratched as they can then boast about how much it costs to repair???

Just what is an inadequate to do????

Buy a rolex???

Perhaps they think there are loads of them because by the time they've got to the end of the road the DB9's already passed them three times...

Can sort of see their point though - the exotic car manufacturers sell more cars than they ever did before, and it's not like they're getting any cheaper.

i'm sure if the cyclists started frequenting these forums they'd find some of the equally ignorant comments about cycling just as funny/bizzare.

What a strange thread - and at one point, some dumbfCuk was saying that X5's should be vandalised along with other 4x4s.

What about a Subaru Outback then or an XC90, something that's just a jacked up Wagon basically (X5 just about fits this category). That should confuse them a bit

Anything with more than 2 wheels and requires the use of the brain to operate would confuse them!

replace "ten a penny" with "reliable" and his statement makes sense.

Scum.

What if that persons' bicycle was vandalised or stolen? How would they feel then? Not a very nice thing, having ones property damaged, is it, you moronic b******?

Jealousy. It's the only explanation as to why they would have a problem with what type of car someone buys.

They probably cycle (like me) along the Embankment every day and have noticed just how 'common' the DB9 has become. And porka's are more common than Golfs on my daily commute.

do you think they read our recent threads about mountain bikes and thought "god what a bunch of talking about bikes" in much the same way as I have just read their thread and thought "god what a bunch of talking rubbish about cars"...

one can only presume so. the problem is, there is less toget wrong with bikes, so i think we are safe chaps!...

I must say, I spent a day in the passenger seat of a '89 Morgan +4 a couple of years ago, and apart from its stunning looks it was the worst and most useless conveyance I have ever sat in/on. They couldn't possibly have been that crude in the 1950's, surely?
