Zurich's ok.

But Switzerland as a whole is beautiful.

Its not as expensive as everyone seems to make out either.

Food is pretty much a mix of everything European.

Iv'e driven through Switzerland a few times on my way to Italy, but I may have the possibility of moving out there for work, so I wondered if any PHers have actually lived there? Low taxes????

The first and last time I went there must've been 10+ years ago, I would have been about 14 or so. We'd spent over a week in Italy and it'd been VERY hot indeed.

The thing I remember about Switzerland was arriving at the campsite (caravan holidays back then.. ugh), getting out the car and the air was lovely and cool and fresh. The view was brilliant (snow topped mountains) too and it was a very welcome feeling.

Never been to Zurich though, so once again I've made a post which is mostly pointless :P

I quite like living here. Moved over about 3 years now and I can honestly say it is the best move I have ever made.

Great food, mountains, lakes and the people aren't too bad.

Where abouts are you thinking of working in Zürich

On the fondue point, they eat another melted cheese thing called Raclette.

Had it for the first time on New Years Eve. Its fantastic, I am truly converted.

This is so true. You have to get used to speeding tickets arriving through the letterbox on a regular basis

Zurich is nice enough, if a little boring. The lake is great for swimming and the park next to it is a pleasant wooded hillside. The trains run to the second and there are unbroken electric shaver sockets and mirrors in the gents in the railway staion.

Switzerland is far too tidy.

I've stayed in Lugano on the Swiss/Italian border. I love Switzerland for its spectacular scenery, order and cleanliness. I'd definitely pay another visit.

Yes but after the best part of a decade living in the decaying, festering cesspit of humanity that large parts of most UK cities consist of I think that I can cope with a place that is clean, not broken and safe.

After all if I feel the need to smell vomit and piss on the public transport and see random acts of drunken violence I can just pop back and spend a Friday night out in Reading once in a while.

Lugano is lovely, the whole lakes area is. We go walking around there in summer, skiing in winter, just back from a week in Macugnaga.
