Interesting. When they started he was always Bow-No Vox. Then he seemed to change at some point in the late 80s to Bon-Oh.

His full name is "Bonovox of O'Connoll Street" as named after a hearing aid shop on O'Connoll Street. A slag name as apparently he never listened to anyone when he was young. The Edge, due to his chiselled features as a kid and their mate the artist Gavin Friday named after the character Man Friday from Robinson Cruiso (sp?). Just kids having a laugh with nicknames which stuck. The other members of the band weren't friends with them at that stage. Very much the geeky kids when younger, most powerful rockstars in the world when older.

And brave enough in the face of adversity to try and make a difference.

Maybe so, but no one knows how to pronounce his name.

T'would be akin to a quarter of the world calling Madonna Ma-donna, and the other quarter Mad-honour, assuming half of us dont give a toss (myself excluded obviously )

Why bother trying to make a difference?

no, he's wasting his time.

He'd be much better off sitting in front of his pc all day either wanking off, or bitching about speed cameras on Pistonheads.

And he's a great bloke too,

Collecting an interviewer staying at his hotel, they went back to his house in south Dublin for the interviews. It was lashing rain and the power was out. Bono gets out and for 30 mins helps security push the gates open. Moves the car in and gets out to help close the gates again. How many rock/pop stars would work in the rain helping the "help" open and close their own gates. Plus it's kinda weird walking down Grafton St. and there's Bono with his kids out shopping. Not a bother on him, no-one hassling him, no photos in the papers the next day. Just a guy out shopping, and the whole street just smiles and walks on.
