My cat "Spot" has a scratch right across his eye, on what appears to be the lense, looks sore to me but isn't bothering him. His eye seems to be clouding though, not sure of its scar tissue or an infection. Anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance from Spot.

One of mine had this took her to the vet and got some drops to stop infection but couldn't do anything for the actual scratch (healed itself) Billie wasn't too keen on the drops. Had to wrap a towel round her then someone else had to drop some stuff in.

I'll ask the missus when she gets home - she's a vet for the RSPCA.

Disclaimer: I'm not a vet - just someone with a cat whose eyes keep getting scratched!

Sounds like the wound is ulcerating. Take him to the vet asap before it gets any worse. They'll probably prescribe Neosporin and/or Fucithalmic eye drops to clear up the infection and help it heal. If it's not treated it can turn nasty and he could lose his eye

I'd get that checked out as soon as possible.

I guess it happened in a moggy conflict and that could be a cause for concern as cats carry many bacteria in claws from their faeces, urine, saliva and anything else they've pawed around in.

Just spoken to the missus, and she said to get it off to the Vet sharpish, no messing with it, as it could be infectious.

She was quite explicit in that so I guess there's your advice!

Was going to echo others, get Spot to the vet sharpish, but you've gone.

Hope Spot gets sorted, with a minimum of damage to yourselves!!!

Just got back, lighter of wallet and cat with yellow dye all over his chops where he flinched just as the vet was dripping it in. The other cats are all laughing and pointing, poor lad.
