You're standing outside the backdoor, its cold and its late but you decide to have that ciggy as the copious amounts of alcohol takes its effect and begs you for a smoke...

Standing in the dark, you shivver as the fag glows next to your face with each pull, as you smile to yourself, happy of your weeks' hard work. You deserved those cans and the bottle of red.

Its very quiet as your house is the only one for miles around. Its unusually quiet this night as the phone lines are down and your mobile has been left at work.

In the eery distance, you recognise the sound of a quick, powerful car exploring each gear to the max in the cold night air, steadily becoming louder. You know the road. You've driven it hundreds of times. Its local. Too far to walk but only 5 minutes in the car. That guy is having fun. You know he is, its a fast road. The racey roar is romantic as you listen, dazed.

The shocking sound of an abrupt thump mid gear brings silence to the winter air. The car has stopped moving. Its obvious and tragic what has happened to the overkeen and super unlucky man in his machine.

Knowing the amount of alcohol you have consumed and knowing that the police often patrol the local roads at this time of year, do you drive to the scene to help?

I'd call the police.

If there is an accident and you drive there you may not be able to explain your actions to their satisfaction when the police do turn up.

Edited to add: ah, no phone... hmmm. Have you got a pushbike?

Pushbike. Get there quick; nick his CDs, phone, ICE. Leave the wallet so it's not obvious

And see if you can find his girlfriend's number

Well seriously, how much have you drunk?

If you feel you'd be safe, drive there. If you feel it would be dangerous, dont.

But if it's been a while, then someone else is prob there anyway...

Few cans and a bottle of red? Chances are, even if you made
it as far as the crash site, you'd probably run the poor sod
over as he finally extracted himself from the wreckage, and
stumbles back onto the road, blinking in the light of
the (erratic) headlights of the car bearing down in him.

I know, I know.

Thats why I erased it - it was a bit wrong. But to be fair, the scenario (minus crash) happened a couple of nights ago and it gave me food for thought - What if....

No, he's gone to his mums for some cake. He'll be back later.
