anyone else see it? I assume it was a repeat in any event..

No doubt I will get caned from the PH music buffs but G'n'R were part of my music upbringing. The documentary of their lifestyle was pretty eyeopening stuff. However, it was also very sad to see how it all went downhill and end as it did.

Yeah it's a repeat and Ive seen it a few times. Like you, G'n'R were part of my musical upbringing (first thing I learned to play on my first electric guitar was the intro to Sweet Child 'O Mine).

Great band, shame Axl's ego ruined it.

The Behind the Music shows are brilliant. The Motley Crue one is infamous.

I miss GnR. I am a huge fan of theirs but just when I was getting into them they went and split up. Slash was my main inspiration to learn the guitar and at one point I must have known about 50% of his solo's off by heart. I managed to get one of Duff's guitars on eBay a while ago.

superb. got any piccies/details?

loved Guns, saw them 3 times (Wembley twice and the MK Bowl once).

I actually queued for tickets before the shop opened, did the same to get Illusions.

Good to see Duff, Slash and Matt doing well in velvet revolver.

My all time favorite band.

Duff & Gilby used to be sponsored by GMP Guitars, a small Californian company.

One of his guitars was a silver Roxie SS which found its way onto eBay on conveniently the same day my student loan came in. It's a monster of a guitar and looks identical to this:

I am surprised. I was expecting a backlash for admitting to liking G'n'R. Glad to see thats not the case.

Long Live the music of Guns & Roses! They were the soundtrack to my College/Uni years.

Had some bloody good times to their music too

it seems like they all were, just that Steven couldn't even get a remote grip on himself when they needed to pull themselves together. It was said that he was physically unable to play the drums for Use your Illusion that lead to his sacking.

skid row were superb! no shame required. Pity jon bon jovi ruined them. sebastian bach great voice and avery cool guy.

great guitar there too. silver screamer.

GNR were ruined by Axl's ego. check out the metallica video where they go down the list of his rider "ham. cubed" springs to mind.

Appetite is the best ever debut album.

I too grew up with GnR, Skid Row, Motley Crue, Cinderella and the likes - bloody good stuff, and if you are a budding guitarist at the time, it is the thing to listen to, along with a bit more seriously heavy stuff. But my all time favourite band of this genre has to be Leatherwolf - recently reformed, initially with Seb Bach from Skid Row as singer, but i think this might have changed now

Oh the shame... But I was only 14 at the time and was listening to Maiden, The Cult, AC/DC and of course G'n'R as well... (ok and Cinderella and Motley Crue too... I'll stop now...)

why did Izzy straddlin' leave?

musical differences ?

or was the band breaking up anyway ?

he was a cool rythm guitarist.

musical differences it seems. It was when Mr Rose decided to take charge of the band and try and lead them in a direction. However, Slash was saying on several occasions Izzy was lying down on stage totally passed out! He would hear the buzzing from the guitar and have to go over and kick him!

The usual combo of drugs, the frontman's ego & the music changing direction

Some of Izzy's solo stuff is cool - Pressure Drop is excellent.

Also Duff's album (Believe in me) is well worth a listen. Contains collaborations with Seb and the boys from Skid Row and Lenny Kravitz.

What is the JBJ thing? How can someone be banned from recording something? 'Believe in me' was recorded in the early 90's however.
