I need a new phone deal and am going slight mad trying to find one... I've been on orange provided on one of those cashback deals through a well known phone shop that requires you to only make one stop. My experience of this deal has been extremely negative and my experience of orange coverage has been abismal.

Basically I want to get off orange and get back to vodfone (now they no longer sponsor the mancs ). I want the anytime 200 tarif and don't need any texts whatsoever (I make on average 2 a month according to my bills).

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good deal with vodafone or are the type of company that don't need to do deals because their converage is so good compared to the others?

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

Vodafone are pretty good to deal with directly, failing that its worth getting a newspaper and seeing what shops have any deals on.

I've been with them for nearly a year now, and their coverage is second to none (compared with my O2 work phone, which is piss poor).

If it's orange the catch is that you'll get a signal pretty everywhere except when you actually want to make a call... unless you live in that there london.

Just for information... with any of the cashback deals make sure you read the minutae of the terms and conditions and follow them precisely and send any claims and correspondance to them by recorded post and follow up your claims with phone calls to make sure they have them and that they believe the claim is valid within the claim period. If you leave it until after the claim period then they may not inform you that your claim was wrongly submitted until after the claim period and then they may not pay your claim if you rectify any mistakes outside the claim period. Also make sure you get your claim vouchers with the rest of your paperwork and if they don't arrive make sure you chase them up because they can have a clause whereby if you fail to inform them you haven't got the vouchers within a specific time frame of the contract starting then they may refuse to honour any claims you make.

I've used 'may' and 'can' in the above because some may not be like this although if you make the assumption that if they pay all the claims then they won't make any money so you need to ensure you're doing everything you can to make sure you are one of the ones who gets paid.

Regards,

Mark

No, it's T Mobile. I thought I may as well sign up and sell the PSP thingy afterwards.

I must be lucky, then - been on Orange for years and very rarely find anywhere that has poor coverage these days.

Many people have told me the same so it may be me who has been unlucky. It doesn't work at home and doesn't seem to work on many of the roads I like to blat down.

Me too, in fact I switched to them after trying cellnet, vodaphone, O2 and Virgin.

Service with Orange has been excellent, been with them for about 6 years now.

Orange did start off by quoting coverage on population rather than area, so remote areas with low population density were always worse off (in fact, right at the start iirc only London had any coverage at all). I guess the same still applies to a certain extent, as I know that in one of my brother's recent homes he could only get reception on one windowsill in the entire place He was in the sticks a bit, though.

Yep, that's what my place is like and I can only speak to someone by hanging our of the window.
