I have been asked to provide a character reference for a close friend but have only got as far as "To whom it may concern" can anyone help?

It is for court appearance so needs to be formal.

Thanks to anyone with constructive ideas.

To whom it may concern

I can confirm that I have know XXX for x years.

During that time, I can confirm that he has never, to the best of my knowledge, beaten his wife.

I do these frequently:

I have always known XXXX to be a person of integrity and honesty. He is reliable and concientious and has a good sense of humour.

XXXX is calm under pressure and finishes tasks he undertakes. He is sociable and works well as a team member, but will take a lead when necessary.

Etc etc....

I am confident that he is a suitable candidate for whatever job vacancy you are trying to fill. For Christ sake please hire him. If I have to spend another minute in his company I'll harm myself. Here, take this money. Please, I'm begging you ...

Thanks guys! I can always rely on you for an honest approach!

I think i have cracked it by Googling for a character witness statment and digging up something on OJ Simpson, i'll just cut and paste that!
