Men held over toddler's abduction

The girl was apparently driven more than 80 miles from her home
Police are questioning three men in connection with the kidnap and rape of a toddler found in a car more than 80 miles from home after a police chase.
A 26-year-old was arrested after his car crashed on the A4 near Marlborough. Two other men, aged 34 and 47 were arrested later in south Wales.

The three-year-old girl was abducted from Cardiff hours before the crash.

She was airlifted to hospital with significant injuries and has been reunited with her family.

Superintendent Josh Jones, Deputy Divisional Commander for Cardiff said: "This is an extremely rare event which makes it all the more shocking.

"(The area the child was taken from) is a close-knit community and we ask the residents to work closely with us in providing any information that they can. We will continue to provide a very visible police presence in the area."

Police are carrying out house-to-house inquiries and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Officers first spotted a grey Ford Escort in Swindon where it drove through a red light at the Blagrove roundabout. They pursued the car along the M4 for about four miles where it left at junction 15 before heading for 10 miles down the A4 towards Hungerford where it crashed.

Thank goodness the police have caught these deeply dangerous and disturbed men.

It is obvious that it would only have been a matter of time before they killed.

Maybe not so rare?,only recently a toddler was abducted in the Newcastle area.
And the age range of these 3 that took the toddler yesterday would maybe suggest there is some sort of "peado ring" going on in that area?.

Child abduction and murder happens all the time, literally constantly. On any given local news station there's always at least one child disappearence and it's very rarely good news at the end.

I find it particularly sick that the media always pick on one particular one during the summer holidays, usually going for the most photogenic children with the 'safest' background in the nicest setting. Look what happened to Soham. That sort of thing happens with alarming regularity, but the tabloids chose it for 'that summer's child murder story' and it's turned into a grim pilgrimage site for recreational grievers.

The problem will not be solved by media circuses, but by tough, traditional community policing.

There is NO sentence that will even come close, none whatsoever.

Pliers and a blowtorch are even too good for these people.

Great phrase! - I've been searching for a long time to sum up what I can now sum up with "recreational grief". Cheers.

Too quick.

I was thinking more along the lines of the Rack or the Iron Maiden.

My mother in law broke her arm just before Christmas and whilst she was being seen to she overheard that the woman next door, who was 70, had been raped and mugged in broad daylight by a drug-addict. I can't imagine the feelings her children must have had!

From what I can gather and by the fact the man (men?) have been charged with kidnap rather than any sexual offences and the reference to close knit communities inthe article, that this is probably more likely to be a case of a father taking his child from the mother rather than a case of random child abduction. I don't know of course and innocent until proven guilty and all that.

Contrary to popular belief kids arent murdered and abused by sick evil men (and face facts , it's almost always men) any more now than in decades past , it's just that reporting has become wider and broader - you don't have to just read the papers and watch the bbc, there is satallite, cable, commercial tv and radio and of course, our good old friend the internet.

Not that I actually want to know as such, or indeed even consider the concept, but I don't understand how it is actually physically possible to rape a toddler.

where are the parents in these cases..

A six year old snatched out of the bath...

And this 3 year old taken from the house between 7pm and 11pm....

Makes me even more fearful for the future of my two, death is the only way for anyone who thinks it is ok to rape a child or an OAP.
