LCD TV advice anyone?
Discussion
Sorry, a bit OT but doesnt really fit into the computer form as its not a computer question as such...
I'm looking at getting a LCD TV, needs to be HDTV Ready so I can use the new Xbox 360 on it.
Main issue is the quality of normal TV/Sky Digital on them. Is it comparable to a standard CRT TV?
Looking at the screens in the shops doesn't really help, the image on the LCD's (regardless of the price) generally looks grainy, ghosty & nowhere near as clear as that on my old CRT which is spot on, trouble is the shops generally have one signal split between god knows how many TV's so aren't a reliable way of judging the quality.
Has anyome got one who can advise on this? As the useage of the TV would be probably 50/50 between TV & console I dont want to spend several hundred quid to have a spot on console picture but pants quality on normal TV when I have reasonable quality on both at the moment.
Thanks in advance

Not speaking from experience here (but am going throuugh the same thought process myself), my understanding is that many Sky channels look fine on an LCD but certain ones, eg. Discovery and other slightly budget channels, are not particularly great. However, Sky is going HD later this year which hopefully will mean that they are all equally good. Of course, this is always going to be dependent upon you buying a quality LCD rather than some of the very cheap ones on the market.
Incidentally, I'm looking at the Philips 42PF9830 and wondered whether anyone had any experience?

I've got a Samsung Milano2 26" (the newest M model, not the R models which are floating around a lot at the moment). The latest Samsung and Sony Bravia LCD models are the best for gaming as they have 8ms screens. Both are very good and more than satisfactory for normal TV. As the screens get larger they do of course highlight faults in the incoming signal.
It is just about possible to get a HD ready CRT, cheaper than LCDs, better picture. Only drawback is the size obviously.
I have one of these:

I must admit that I haven't tried it with a proper HD source yet though due to amazon fubaring my XBOX order.
