Bloody binmen. Lazy tw@ts woke us up at 4.45am this morning. They had sent a bloke out in advance to put all the bottles together at the end of our street to save them from loading the lorry as they go. Am I right in saying it's illegal for them to make such a din at this hour? The Missus flew out in a rage and told him to stop, which he did and the council have admitted it was totally wrong on the blower this morning, Any ideas how I take this further?

The binmen in Walsall were going to go on strike as apparently £900 wasn't enough for them to work 3 days over christmas and new year - now that's lazy.

I would leave it. He stopped didn't he? If they do it again maybe worth a word in somebody's ear, but let's face it, what are you going to achieve other than having your rubbish dropped on your drive?

Not directed at you Flash, but I can't stand how intollerent society is of nightworkers.

It's the mail plane taking off over my house at 1am that I can't stand. Why do they have to move mail at night eh? Bloody stupid if you ask me...

I also made my milkman change his delivery time - he was arriving too early and waking me up, so I persuaded him to get here later. Then he was too late so I didn't have milk for my cornflakes before I had to leave for work. We eventually agreed that 6:45 to 7:00 am was acceptable, but even then he still can't get it right. Useless git.

Councils normally take complaints like that well and will probably have a word.

Why take it further? If they do that again you could complain again?

...or change your job so that you have to be up at 4:45 anyway...

1) they are lazy because he was the youngest one, sent out early to move all the glass (imagine the noise) to the end of the road to save the rest of the crew from having to collect it all up.
2) it's our first collection in 3 f***** weeks because the overpaid useless tts had 2 weeks off.
3) My council tax is one of the worst in the UK and we only get a tiny wheely bin and a rubbish collection every TWO WEEKS!!
4) I have to work nights quite often myself as I work for rail engineering company. If I went round waking everyone up in the street at 4am I would get a)my head kicked in b)fined for breach of the peace c) my firm would be heavily fined for breaching the laws.

I have just found out it's 6.30am before they are legally allowed to make a noise. These tts are breaching that law every (other)week.

I'm not against night workers, they are not supposed to be working nights!!!!

We have a couple of restaurants at the end of our road and are constantly woken up by their glass being removed, sometimes around 5.30am.

I think I'm gonna complain too

I dunno Flash me old mucker. You must be turning into Victor Meldrew in your old age mate. It seems only 5 minutes ago that we wouldn't have been home at 4.45am.

Blimey, and I thought you'd miss Daventry Councils Finest mate.....

Left home this morning at 7am.

Found my bin and another straight over the driveway, blocking me in.

Moved both bins. Hopefully the NHS can sort me a hernia op soon (2 weeks and no collection, lazy feckers)

Got in car. Bin man gives me funny look as I reverse out of drive.

And no, I didn't tip them. Why the hell should I tip them for doing their lousy job? If they want tips, go work in a bar FFS.

yes but I'm old and grumpy now.

Sorry folks but this is like a war in our road as we are the first on the round they take the piss. The wheely bins are tiny and everyone in our street that has kids cant cope with a 2 week wait for it to be emptied. If your bin is not tightly shut they put a big sticker on it saying it's overfilled and they wont empty it. If your bin isn't fully on the pavement they walk past it, and last time I complained they told me I shouldn't have guests as it adds to the rubbish and that I should drive to the tip rather than rely on them to empty the bins!! it's scandlous!

this lot make the Daventry lot seem like angels. If you saw the size of our wheely bin compared to Daventry you would have a pink fit , let alone a hernia!!!

Audi diesel estate. Complaining about the size of your wheelie bin. Complaining about being woken up early by the collection.

What happened to my friend?

That is sh*t. I thought all the councils were about the same in this.

My council have one per week and an ADDITIONAL collection for the Christmas period.

PLUS if you have something big you want rid of (bed, cooker, fridge, etc..) you can phone them and they'll make a special trip

PLUS if you overfill your wheelie bin they're ok, AND you can leave out lots of other bags

PLUS they're collecting Christmas trees

Seems to make sense I suppose otherwise people will just dump rubbish somewhere and the council will have to pick it up.

Oh, and they're really quiet!

You know, I think I'm going to call my council right now and say "Thanks".

Ah, then again I do pay them £1200 a year.....

Its Greenwich council if you were wondering
