Hi All and a very happy New Year!

Unfortunately, the heating at my fiancee's flat has decided not to work today, so no heaters or hot water for us.

She's on that horrible Economy 7 stuff. I've checked the fusebox, and that's all hunky dory. The immersion heater seems okay. The main box connected to the meter seems okay (all switches in the 'on' position), and her neighbours' heating's fine...

So does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong and whether there are any user-servicable things that we could try to get it back to life?

TIA!

the economy 7 side of things only works between midinght and 7am, so your storage heaters wont be getting any hotter outside these hours.
in my flat the big starage heater in the living room has a conventional convection heater built in as well, this is on the standard type electricity.

Shouldn't there be a timing device somewhere in the circuit?
If there is, perhaps it has stopped working.

Hope you get it sorted and have a happy New Year!

Our storage heaters have a flap on them with access to controls. Underneath is a boost button, which makes the storage heaters act like a standard electric bar heater for an hour. It might cost a lot (our econ7 is 16p/unit peak), but it might warm you up.

Guess the master controller couldn't cope with the year change?

I seem to remember it's controlled by radio signal, the carrier being R2 believe it or not. If the heaters are not taking a charge then the fault must be something that is common to them both (all). Check you supplies again (or get someone who's "qualified" to do so)
