WTF is this all about? Evry single bloody pub in our village is saying 'no ticket, no entry' for NY Eve.
Is this a fire regs thing or what? You'd think they'd be glad to rake it in.

Well feck 'em, we've got plenty booze in at Tesco prices...

Pass me another Riggwelter, dear...

More and more people that I know just stay in with a few friends now on NYE - a lot easier to organise and people can change their minds at a moment's notice.

If you go to a restaurant you get ripped off - pubs are full of chavs paying entry fees.

We're going around to friends with Calais price booze

My local has £5 ticket thing tonight - me and Mrs Beard are going to friends for a smallish get-together instead.

Braz's the ultra pretentious pub slash bar in Alderely Edge is trying to fleece all the local footballer's wives out of £45 tonight. I said f that thank you very much, im going to the slightly more local actual club for just £5

Totally agree. We have got a group of 12 tonight but because we drank in the same pub on Christmas Eve without bother, they have said we can come in for free.

The 'ticket only' scheme is supposed to deter pissheads who roam from pub to pub. All is really does is infuriate the locals. Beer is expensive enough these days without getting charged £10 or whatever to get in.

Happy new Year to you All

Unfortunately long gone are the days when I could get through thirty-five quid’s worth of booze in one night

I'm getting a steady stream of texts asking me if i'm out. I really fancy staying in and avoiding the annual anti-climax.

Last years new year consisted of finding a quietish pub and keeping the bar warm. At midnight we all said happy new year to each other and carried on sculling pints..... very civilised

The local hillbilly village pub is going to be firing and I'm going over for a quick pint and then make my excuses, early night for me, might pop up and see my woman who's staying in also, but more importantly, I am going to be up at stupid o' clock to go surfing, it's going to be classic and I am going to take a big lock up there with me (beach is a military firing range) and lock myself in! So, what did you do on new years day, Stu? "Well, I got up early, went surfing and had it to myself all morning, funny that!!"

My local did this last year but when we turned up with no tickets(not knowing it was ticket only) they let us all in anyway as there were only about 30 people in there, needless to say we didn't stay long. This year going down another pub who refund the price of the tickets when you turn up so not so bad and not far to walk either as cabs are a right pain in the arris on NYE.
