Our friend has very kindly offered to get us a telescope for christmas (a bit late!) and is thinking of a 5" Celestron Reflector, for £180 which seems good value, comes with tripod and lenses and is a decent make as far as I can make out (though this will be their lower range stuff obviously). It also means she can pick it up from the natural world shop in town, so we don't have to wait ages or mail order it. Before we say yes to this, is there anything else that represents better value? Not that you have long to reply, cos we are getting it at 12 unless I hear a good reason not to!

Cheers

fast work guys, I have been following that thread with interest (not as much interest as Bedford Rascal it has to be said!) but she would have to live a long way away to see anything with a powerful telescope because the focal range is set for the stars... It might help find that bottle of moisturiser though...
