Well. we'll never have a better chance after that draw.

But we have to keep Rooney and Lampard fit and string together four or so matches ... and have limitless self belief.

But the last four or eight is where we'll fall down I think - Eriksen has limited tactical nous when the pressure is on - witness the Brazil game in Korea.

I can see us getting as far as the semis, but thats about it. It's not the players who will mess up, but some dreadful tactical play by the manager, (Rooney going off, replaced by Vassel! )

After watching the Comeback against Argentina i have renewed hope that Sven might of learnt something.

If ted wants to delete this thread, fair enough, he is paying for it, but does anyone else really have to come into a blatently obvious football thread, only to spout the usual anti-football crud? You don't like the sport? fine, just don't get on a high horse about it...

When you look at the talent we have;

Gerrard
Rooney
Lampard
Joe Cole
Terry
Ashey Cole
Owen
Robinson

I'm less convinced about Beckham (these days) and unconvinced about Ferdinand and Campbell but we've the makings of a very competetive side if everone stays fit. In Rooney and Gerrard we have world class players who can turn games almost on their own.

I would feel more confident if we had a proper manager rather than Chance The Gardener but I think we've as good a chance as anyone.

Why does everyone knock Sven?

OK, he's not a vocal a manager as Psycho is at Man City but he has only lost 2 competitive games and has lead the team to the best European qualifying record for the 2006 WC?

Maybe people should get of the knocking bandwagon and give him a hard time when he does deserve it.

3 full internationls. 3 quite important ones. He's hopeless in a crisis. You need a manager who can adapt and respond to situations. He can't.

Agree... His initial team selections are ok, (although I think the media pressure picks them, rather than Sven himself), but it is when a substitutuion is needed that things go wrong... I have no confidence in him. The team picks itself, but use of subs is a large part of a managers game, and Sven seems to struggle here.
