Avid Merrion - Lost it?
Discussion
What were people's opinion of his Christmas special shown on Friday and Saturday? Personally, as a great fan of the first 3 series of Bo' Selecta, I thought his Christmas show lacked alot of the spark and specialness of his past work.
Cha'mone, hee, hee. Thats mother f&cking right, owwwwwww.

All of his humour must have gone over my head mate, the complex irony and hidden subtext must be too subtle.
Or perhaps it's because it's complete guff if you're not an easily-satisfied teenager? I singularly fail to see which part of Bos Selecta et al is supposed to be funny...

Personally I found the most original comedy stuff on TV for a long time.
Well it's certainly original.
From a presonal humour point of view i find it really annoying that he gets TV airtime over people who are genuinely really ouch-i-think-i'm-going-to-die-laughing type funny people like Eddie Izzard and Bill Bailey (doing standup, not his gameshow lark).
He's not the only one who's lost it - French and Saunders lost it 2 years ago. Little britain has shot it's bolt. It's no wonder that Xmas comedy this year has mostly been Two Ronnies, Morecambe and Wise, and Tommy Cooper, plus repeats of the Fast Show - there's precious little else new stuff that's genuinely funny - there's more comedy in 'Have I got news for you', and 'They think it's all over'.

Absolutely.
A-M isn't at all funny IMHO, his 'comedy' is puerile and unimaginative. Bit like Jimmy Carr.
Now given the amount of very talented stand-up comedians around, why the TV channels are giving so much time to alternative 'variety-style' and costume comedy is beyond me - what's wrong with watching a guy on-stage?!?

I too think he has gone off, but the first couple of series of Bo Selecta were very funny. Sometimes I wonder whether some people here find anything at all funny.
Have to agree with you on that. You wonder whether some people go through life with a permanent frown on their faces waiting to die.
I thought Bo Selecta and Little Britain were both very funny, but a lot of people on here don't. On the other hand, I don't find the Two Ronnies, Monty Python or Fawlty Towers particularly funny, which a lot of people on here do.
I'm willing to give any new comedy a try though and find most of it has some humour in it, without necessarily being laugh out loud funny.
Anyone seen Man Stroke Woman? Same jokes every week but it is still quite humorous, so I'm happy.
Different people have different senses of humour.
I really like plays-on-words, and the sort of humour where you have to think about it for a second before the penny drops (Python, Blackadder, Hitchhikers etc.). Unfortunately (for me), too much "TV comedy" currently is what used to be called slapstick - very blunt physical / observational humour without much subtlety. Little Britain IS genuinely funny (and successful) because it is both - it has the slapstick but has substance behind it, so appeals to a range of people.
