I've just received a card from my neighbour a few doors down.

We have exchanged only a few greetings the entire time we have lived here and now a card has arrived through our letter-box, Merry Christmas No 51 (we don't know each other's names you see)

He signed it with his name and helpfully put his house number so we would know who the h*ll he is.

To be polite we will have to send one back.

But what is the point of it all?, we don't know each other, we aren't friends

It is a waste of money and paper.
