Got a free present today, sad but true story:

Thinking about what to buy my wife, and in the trip to deliver presents to folks back home was at my Mum's house, when my ex-wife called to see her (they still have periodic contact). Somewhat bitter divorce which left me living with my Mum with 37p in the bank and my only possessions from the divorce being a broken Corby trouser press. I was bailed out financiallyand emotionally by a friend who later became my new wife.

I could have done without seeing the ex again but she insisted on coming in knowing I was there. My ex and my new wife have never met and only communicated through the ex's solictors letter demanding money and the house.

As it happened I had forsaken the usual jeans and tea shirt for some very tidy clobber and my new wife was looking like a milion dollars, complete with recently applied make-up and her best clothes and jewellery.

Best present for my new wife of all time who had lived through the divorce: ex is short, had put on 2 stone, was in her scruffs, her hair was a mess and she had no make-up on. She looked like she had escaped from Willy Wonka's chocloate factory chased by the guard dogs. New wife is almost 6ft, and at the time looked like a cross between Zena warrior princess, Nigella Lawson the cover of Vogue.

I have been excused buying my wife a gift, as this was all she ever wanted!

I got less pleasure than she did, but that might just be a boy/girl thing.

No amount of money could buy what your (new) wife was feeling right then.

There's nothing quite like meeting someone you don't like, and being able to silently say fk you, such as in that little anecdote above....

This looks like a double whammy of a christmas pressie to me. Your wife gets to feel fabulous and superior while the ex gets to feel like the s**t on someone's shoe. What better present could you give either of them.
I would love to meet up with a few (only 1 or 2 honest) people from my past in such a situation. Makes you feel on top of the world. Even better that you haven't actually planned it either!

Yes, it would be rude not to give her one.

Us girlies are quite easily pleased sometimes - it's like going to your school reunion and discovering that everyone else is fatter than you!!

Bet you get another present from her as well.......

I'll believe that when i see it..

Harder.. faster.. slower.. too fast.. almost there... nooo.. too slow..faster.. You knackered already..

When i was designed, they should have just put a 'thrust speed' setting on and forgot about a brain!

I'd love for my ex husband to see me now - 6 stone lighter and a totally different person.
Would be great and a dream of mine!

Earlier this year I was working for a few days in the town where the ex-wife lives. As it was her birthday I knew she would be at her favourite restaurant with her new man, so booked the table next to them, less than 3 feet away. Let's just say I think it stiffled the conversation!!! The most embarrassing bit was when I sat down she introduced us, and as I held out my hand to shake his hand, he offered me his left hand, which I presumed was becuause of the angle he was sat at and moved across so that I could grab his right hand, with a merry quip of "No, let's shake hands like men" to find he found out he was disabled and only had one useable arm.

One shouldn't laugh but hell! How cringeworthy.
