Kung Fu Hustle
Discussion
Blockbuster are running a 5 for £25 offer at the moment, so picked up War of the Worlds, Bad Santa, Kung Fu Hustle and a couple of others.
Kung Fu Hustle is... Incredible.
Its hysterically funny and has some seriously cracking special effects.
The dubbing from Chinese is terrible, but thats ok as after about the first 5 minutes you wont care.
The throwing knives scene (no spoilers for anyone who hasnt seen it :P) had me in hysterics and the rest of the film alternated between funny and fantastic martial arts scenes and comedy special effects.
At a fiver its barely more to buy it than to rent it...

I really want to see this as it looks really good. I got Ong Bak a few weeks ago and that was fantastic so hoping this will be the same
Havent seen Ong Bak. But from what I've heard of that its a gritty and realistic martial arts flick.
Kung Fu Hustle is nothing like that. Its a complete pisstake of the martial arts genre, lots of comedy moments and the special effects (all very well done) are typically cartoony.

If your getting withdrawal symptoms I suggest watching the Ultimate Fighting Championship screening on sky. Full contact (knees & elbows allowed) mixed martial arts
Kung Fu Hustle.
Stephen Chow (producer/director) is the biggest filmmaking phenomenon in Asia.
The film just turns around your view of the Asian film-making scene.
I saw it in Singapore out of boredom.. nothing to do on Chritsmas day there last year. It really blew my socks off. Or was that the girl I paid for afterwards?

Exactly the same thing happened at training after my Master saw that film. We spent all the lesson elbowing the stuffing out of the pads!Im wondering if its worth watching Shaolin Soccer its by the same people who did Hong Kong Hustle
