Great fun , but how come we never see the RAF having fun like this ?
They do, the RAF are regarded as the best low flyers in the world. We just dont shout about it!
I thought that would be the case, this is why I want to see a Harrier in action at low level. There most be some vids like this of the RAF out there somewhere. No ?

Have you seen any footage of the jaguars in Oman? these guys fly so low they regularly have to replace the ventral fins. The RAF play alright, but you won't see em do it here, I've seen some amazing stuff with the Tornados in Sardinia and Greece
I'm sure the RAF boys do it just as much as those French and American guys, you just never see it on those ' funny video/picture ' sites. The last time I saw the RAF doing that, was on some TV prog about the first Gulf war. That was 617 sqd having fun in Tornados on the deck, but not show boating like the French guys, this was a proper mission.

I have been 50ft 400knts in a GR4A Tornado, as I said out of this world.
I will try and dig out some film or pics.
Have you done the range at Deci? I was on the tower when one of our guys lined up for the target then changed course straight towards us, he swept his wings going into reheat and blasted past us 10 feet below!! with the nav flipping the bird up at us, he then corkscrewed up into the cloudbase at max chat. I thought the old tower was going to collapse, the Italian and German duty range guys went berserk grabbing telephones. I get goosebumps thinking about it

I think he would, at least, be on a charge for that lack of airmanship.
Snigger!
Seriously though, low flying is quite a touchy subject in this country, and the MOD face a constant battle to justify it to the public. High population density and airspace restrictions mean that the same areas tend to get "buzzed" a lot. When the Brits are abroad though, they do it every bit as well (and better) than the rest!

He'd hardly be the first guy in the world to have beaten-up the range.... I'd seriously doubt he'd have got charged for it. Cameraderie, Esprit d'Corps and all that. I'd be more worried if our fast-jet guys and girls weren't aggressive hooligans at times!
Now, if you want RAF low flying that did result in slightly more than an interview with the Boss with hat on and no biscuits offered then there was the Cranwell IOT graduation parade in the late 80's that was snotted by some Phantoms that were estimated to have missed the VIPs by 70 feet. The beat-up by a Phantom leaving St Athan en route Leuchars after maintenance that passed between two hangars with the burners plugged in also made an entertaining photograph, not to mention the Wing Commander pilot's career coming to a grinding halt afterwards.
