Anyone been to the North Pole?
Discussion
My missus has persuaded me to look into holidays to the North Pole.
Apparently, it's not that uncommon, with quite a few holiday companies offering the trip and - and you only live once!

Not done it, but quite keen to do that and the South Pole (a touch more expensive). I quite fancy the Skydive the North Pole option on there though. bet not many of my contemporaries would have done that
And on a very PH note, the chap who runs the website doesn't appear to be particularly literate.

Are you after a touristy photo opportunity or a real wilderness adventure ?
If its adventure you are after there are various companies that offer mountaineering trips to Greenland and Spitzbergen - (or will organise the flights ) arguably much more remote, interesting and scenic than the North Pole -( not sure if sub-zero camping , arctic mountaineering and sled hauling is what you're after though ).
I've spent a month in N.E Greenland doing first ascents ..... was fantastic.

High engines so they don't suck up ice dust. Not so good if the wheels freeze to the ice though, I guess.
If the ice floe drifts backwards at the same rate (relatively) as the plane moves forwards, will it take off?
