Anyone know where abouts in the City we could go for a decent burger at lunchtime today? Need to soak up some of the alcohol from last night's party.

He said a decent burger not bland tasteless mass production junk. Something that will block your arteries just by looking at it

Yeah, down from Fabric, above the market.

yes but ecoli lives on outside of beef so mashing it up into a burger means if it isnt cooked through you'd get it organic or not? as far as i understand it

the burger at gaucho's in picadilly or canary wharf is terrific..

But it doesnt feel right ordering it when their steaks are so bloody gorgeous. (make sure you order the Argy beer)

(Gourmet Burger kitchen's are pretty good too (though variable quality sometimes)

(Im an Ed's diner burger fan too...they have that eggy je ne sais quois)

Outside of beef?

How are you ever going to know if your cut is the 'outside'

I dont do medium or rare burgers but enjoy tartare which must follow the same logic and I've never been ill after that.

beef exposed to the air - ie a steak is cooked on the outside even if its rare a burger isnt

http://familydoctor.org/242.xml

"Healthy beef and dairy cattle may carry the E. coli germ in their intestines. The meat can get contaminated with the germ during the slaughtering process. When beef is ground up, the E. coli germs get mixed throughout the meat.

The most common way to get this infection is by eating undercooked hamburgers. You can be infected with the E. coli germ if you don't use a high temperature to cook your beef, or if you don't cook it long enough. When you eat undercooked beef, the germs go into your stomach and intestines."

No idea, I'm about 150 miles too far to the west, but I would be interested to know if those Real Burger World places are still going and what they taste like? You know, the ones from that Channel 4 show about new business start-ups.
