Well - about two and a half hours after starting, I've successfully wrapped twelve presents for the girlfriend/kids/her family - my teeth hurt from the constant abuse of using them to tear sellotape and I'm sure I've picked up one or two paper cuts along the way. I hope to God I remembered to take all the price labels off!!

(they're all boxes too, nothing too taxing and awkwardly shaped!)

I just can't do it, they all resemble wrapped presents but deep down they're just encased in paper, gaffed up with sticky tape and have had a message on a tag stuck on!

Anyone else have this much trouble wrapping or is it just me? Is there a "crap present wrappers anonymous" group I can turn to!?!?

I would be the founder member. The solution is to get your wife / girlfriend to wrap all the pressies, putting hers in newspaper first so she doesn't know what she is getting

I once wrapped all my presents in newspaper. I thought I was being all green but not again after being called a tight bastard at christmas. Whats the big fuss about wrapping paper? it gets ripped off and thrown in the bin.

Top Tip:

You can buy sellotape dispensers that dispense small strips ready cut to length.

A brilliant idea.

I personally put a lot of paper round it, then attack it with sellotape. I mean, if it takes them 5mins to open it there's more suspense

Raunchy Wrapping Paper for the man in your life

www.firebox.com/index.html?dir=firebox&action=product&pid=1257

Probably not a good idea to wrap all your presents in it.

Safe for Work?????, not sure, probably yes

You're doing it wrong, then... sellotape is easy to "cut" with your hands.

As regards wrappig, just do one or two really badly and watch the Mrs dive in with bows & ribbons etc. Works for me, anyway!

Black art? Oh! As my old man always says, never trust the man that can successfully wrap presents

I've agreed with the finacee that I'll provide copious quantities of wine and in return, she'll wrap the pressies. That just leaves hers to sort out...

I've been known to tape them up in an old carrier bag - though I wouldn't dare do this for the g/f unless I had a deathwish.
Like you I really don't see the point in paying a fortune for wrapping paper only for it to be ripped off and thrown away. Same goes for Christmas cards - whats the point?

I can get 80% alright, but those last bits of fold get all stuffed up, 10x worse if it's not a square box shape

Some places will actually gift wrap for you, for a price...

Must admit, I hate wrapping and always make a mess of it. My solution, get my husband to do it. In another life he was a printer and got lots of practice wrapping up jobs to be posted.

He's very good, and this year he's home to do it.

I've already badly wrapped his and hid it at a friends house. He's worse than the kids for picking it up and shaking it to see if he can hear whats in it.

Trust me - get one of these.

www.ryman.co.uk/Satin-Tape-Strip-Dispenser-1-Refil-0605165090.asp

It saves me HOURS at Christmas - I no longer wrestle with reels of sellotape where I can't find the end of the tape or it doesn't cut cleanly etc etc.
