Chaps,

As a budding Gordon Ramsay, I have always cooked Christmas Dinner. And, I may say, have got quite good at it. Always traditional - turkey, cranberry and bread sauce, parmesan parsnips, roast potatoes, possibly sprouts with bacon, sweet chestnuts and riesling, and possibly some peas or roasted veg. Oh, and saussies in bacon and gravy.

Always preceded by a starter then a sorbet, and followed by Christmas pudding, something else (usually light) and then coffee, mints and liquors.

Always in the evening (well, late afternoon), never at lunchtime.

What are anyone else's food plans for the big day?

Oli.

We're off to a hotel, but reading that description of home made Christmas dinner I'm wondering if it was the right decision!

Haven't decided on the finer points yet, but have got a big piece of beef for xmas dinner, don't do turkey if I can help it.

Got xmas pudding and rum sauce, and a yule log, but it still needs some work.

Someone else is cooking and expecting the usual turkey dinner.

If it was just me at home I would probably do this

But not the sauce. With some sprouts and roast potatoes

Done it a few times, really easy to do

Always very traditional. A free range bronze or black turkey with chestnut stuffing. Roast potatoes (maris pipers) cooked in goose fat. Brussels, carrot and swede (chopped together), roast parsnips, cranberry sauce, sausages wrapped in bacon and of course giblet gravy.

Don't usually do starter just nibbles like smoked salmon on blini with cream cheese and chives etc

Pud is Christmas pudding with real custard, a yule log and maybe ice cream with maltester chocolate sauce.

And finally the best bit of a large selction of cheeses-smellier the better.

Loosen the belt, open the cognac and let the women wash up. My work here is done!

Anyone feeling lazy and going to buy these ready done DONT the ones I had last year were like they were made with 90% salt

The ones I had were from a supermarket probably a lot better if a butcher does them
