Anyone else know Ben Folds (Five)?
Great artist.. he's now gone solo and is as good as ever. Saw him live in Birminham night before last and he really is a genius at the (rock?) piano. Funny guy too.
Something on the piano broke halfway through so he ad-libbed a bass and drum solo to fill time. And juggled.
He even played a Dr. Dre song (!!) put to piano. Will be in London soon if anyone's interested.
Great show.

He is fantastic, huge range of song writing ability, both lyrically and musically, equally great for unobtrusive background music and turn-it-up-to-max-and-blast-down-the-motorway stuff.
Jealous you got to see him live, might have to try and catch him. Can imagine he'd make an excellent live-show, seems to have a pretty go entertainment brain in his head.

Great shout, Pentoman - I was at the Brixton gig last night.
I've followed Mr Folds for quite a few years now and was expecting big things from this gig and I wasn't disappointed -
IT WAS AWESOME!!.
I thought the Dre cover was fantastic, the crowd interaction during Army was great and Brick, which has no right to work in anything but the most intimate of venues, was superb.
Truly an incredible musician and a fantastic entertainer

Big Ben Folds 5 fan here ... excellent stuff. Haven't heard any of the Ben Folds stuff though, although I can imagine that it is equally as good.
A live performance would be excellent - he was at the Brixton Academy last night, although I couldn't go.
(Ever read the inside papers from the BF5 CD's? Quite amusing ...)
Oli.

Is his drummer better yet? In Birmingham he was ill so Ben said "oh well I'll just have to do it all by myself" and carried the whole thing on piano only. Definitely a real natural!
I even watched the Ben Folds Live DVD (comes with the ben folds live CD) in the car on the way home - but not looking at the screen, obviously! Short but sweet DVD of some live gig (just him solo again) which brings it all back. Gonna have to get the new Ben Folds + Orchestra DVD, I couldn't afford it Monday as I spent all my money on a T-shirt.
You can find obscure stuff on the net too.. odd studio recordings, even Ben Folds with William Shatner!
