Estate agents / letting price increase

I saw a flat I liked on Thursday, was mulling it over this weekend, looking at a short term rental while I get new job sorted
Today I look again and the agent has put the rent up by 25% !
Can they actually do that? I'd still offer the original rent, or choose another property, of course, but it annoyed me somewhat. Not sure if it is legal or not. I even have the agent's copy of the details with the original price on it.
