On thursday my jaw started to ache a bit, nothing serious you tell yourself, it gets steadily worse through Friday, and is so bad Saturday night i can't sleep. turn the house upside down at 3am trying to find some nuerofen. Finally get to sleep at 4am only to miss God smiting Hemel off the face of the earth.

sunday it gets pretty bad, but thankfully the dentist is across the road. i'm there first thing, absolute agony and dosed out of mind on painkillers.

80% chance a wisdom tooth has moved, and there is a growing pool of pus underneath a tooth. Got some penicillin and got to go back next week.

so the question is, how long does it take penicillin to start working and take the edge off this pain?

Penicillin doesn't address pain, it addresses infections. There's no promise it'll work; if it doesn't, you might be saying bye-bye tooth. Hopefully the dentist prescribed beefier painkillers?

yeah, the penicillin is just to kill the infection, the pain killers are to kill the pain. i just wonder when i wont need to dose my brains out with codeine.

I had a botched double root-canal several years ago that became infected. Asprin . . . no help, Neurophen . . . no help, Codine . . . no help, . . .

After 3 days without sleep and shaking uncontrollably with the infection I was taken to a second A&E clinic (the first was useless).

Two injections in my 'upper leg' (I think it was one pain killer and one antibiotic) and I was FINE within 30 minutes.

Tablets for 10 days and 90 minutes with a $1200/hr midnight callout orthodontal surgeon and everything was sweet.

Would have sold my car to get that relief . . . was seriously out off my nut.
