Are you an "Elvis" or "Beatles" person?

Elvis couldn't hold a light, period. He makes Westlife seem like talented men - I can't believe he was so popular.

Indeed. The Beatles wrote their own songs - Elvis didn't. The Beatles performed with instruments, Elvis didn't - although his voice was amazing.
Personally I'd give The Beatles 10 out of 10, whereas Elvis gets 8 out of 10.

Right on the writing & instruments, Beatles were tops! Myself, I admire voice when it comes to music(since there is so little of that today)and very few, especially the Beatles, could match Elvis' voice.

Just in reply to the above comments he did co-write a lot of his music, he often played the guitar but could not “read” music very well. The Beatles where the same, they did not write all of their music or write it without external guidance. I assume by the time most artists are famous this happens, there is a limited amount of time they can spend in the studio if they want to go on tour.
"It seemed like that kid knew [Elvis] every damn song in the world. Elvis played good rhythm guitar, but he didn't know all the chords to some of the songs, so he'd play as far as he could and just keep singing." – Guitarist Scotty Moore.

If Elvis had appeared in 1965 rather than 1956, he wouldn't have been noticed. Elvis was lucky in bursting on the scene when he did. Kids were ready to throw out all their "parents" music in 1956 - Elvis provided them with the means to do that.
I still MUCH prefer The Beatles though.

Some of Elvis's best stuff was on B sides or on obscure albums, blues in particular. Nothing from his later stuff - after the Blue Hawaii period - is worthy of his voice really. As for the Beatles, they were too far up their own a*ses; especially Lennon. I have to admit that one track on 'Imagine' hits the spot though. Can't remeber the title but it starts "Oh my lover for the first time in my life...."
Elvis, without a doubt, bringing black music to white ears. Unmatched voice too. By contrast the Beatles were just a fashion, and also influenced by Elvis and rock and roll (listen to their early stuff)
