What the :Censored: is wrong with some kids?

I'm sat at work at the moment and amongst my other action items, I'm currently the custodian of a couple of projects that have been placed on hold. Including the very small flow of incoming calls coming through on the 0800 numbers allocated to them, which I've now routed to my extension.
Over the last few weeks, culminating with me placing the voicemail on tonight and abandoning the few remaining customers, there has been a torrent of prank calls from all over the country (im tracking the numbers...)
I'm not talking about the "Bart Simpson" stylee amusing prank calls, but hate and abuse filled screaming and shouting from what sounds like kids from maybe 8ish to early teens.
Picking up the phone to somone saying hi, then yelling "F off, f off you F'ing A'hole" etc...
Calling these numbers back in the evening hoping to talk to an adult, I never get one who answers.
I get into work in the morning to find some seriously abusive voicemails, once again from young kids, often either yelling abuse or describing some serious sick shit and claiming they will hunt us all down.
Its not as if I'm thin skinned, in fact I'm pretty callous, but this is seriously starting to get to me. Probably wouldnt bother me much, if at all, were these from adults. But this is Pre-teen children....
What the hell is wrong with these kids? Really?
Since when was shouting abuse at some random guy on the other end of a phone funny?
How screwed up do they have to be to get off on this?

Don't worry about it.
Just take comfort in the fact that you're normal, and these kids are seriously
ed up and will lead sad miserable lives and never, ever feel good about themselves. And use 192.com to find out where they live, and send a lot of unwanted mail, pizza deliveries etc their way.

Tried that, as well as their phone numbers. No unusual hits.
Tracking area code gives a nationwide spread. Looks like independent bunches of kids having happened on these 0800 numbers.
Its very similar to an online travel shop and one of the shopping channels, we get a lot of wrong numbers for them, I'm assuming these are abusive prank calls intended for them.
