I just spent 3 weeks in the states, had a great time, nice people and bought back some little goodies. Ipod included, which subsequently went fizzzzzzz and burnt out when I connected it to the car charger, but thats another story.

The point is, the TV over there never once referred to Christmas as 'Christmas' only as 'holidays'...... 'Happy Holidays, y'all!'

Didn't half get my goat. Political correctness gone MAD again.

Does it wind anyone else up? Particularly the American listers?

mini-rant over.

that happened years ago....

I just can't believe the whole birth of Jesus Christmas thing has been replaced by some sterile marketing gimick...

God help us if it happens here.

But it's always been called 'Holidays' they arent being PC, Christmas hasn't been dumped, that's what it's called over there, what we would call holidays is known as vacation.

Well I have started fighting back... I've told all of my employees that if they didn't damned well wish our bastard clients a Merry fcking Christimas, that they were all fired...

... Shoshana and Achmed were not pleased.

^^^^^ - Just a joke, people

It's just PCBS(tm). A sign of the times and not too much that you can do about it. I, personally, will be wishing people a Merry Christmas and be saving my Happys for my New Year wishes...

Thanksgiving is more of a family reunion/get together type holiday. A lot of travelling and feasting (and stealing of the hosts liquor ) but no gift giving.

Christmas is still a HUGE holiday in the US. Wait a day or so and I will post a picture of our neighbor's (affectionately known as "the Griswalds" in the ErnestM household) Christmas light display on their house. We will have to fire up the auxiliary nuclear reactor to power it...

You guys do get your knicks in a twist over what another country calls Xmas don't you!! Who gives a toss. Suggest a chill pill needed. If you don't like what they call it...don't go there - it's hardly the end of the world ffs!! I bet you are the first to complain at immigrants coming over here and not abiding with our traditions!!!!
